The BaldrigeCoach team brings together the wisdom gained as senior executives responsible for managing organizations in multiple industries and the insights from being internal change agents with a deep understanding of the Baldrige Criteria and Framework from over two decades serving as examiners, team leaders, and Judges for multiple programs.
Together, we have more than 50 combined years serving as Judges for the national program and several state/regional programs. We continue to serve as Alumni examiners for the national program.
Members of the BaldrigeCoach team are frequently requested and highly rated speakers at a variety of conferences. We also deliver public and private customized workshops. Our articles have been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and our book, The Executive Guide to Understanding and Implementing Baldrige in Healthcare: Evidence-Based Excellence, is available on Amazon.com.
Kay Kendall
Kay Kendall spent more than 20 years as a quality executive leading large-scale change initiatives across diverse industries – aerospace, semiconductor automation equipment, computers and storage devices, and pharmaceuticals. She completed a five-year assignment as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. She also has extensive experience using Balanced Scorecards, Hoshin Kanri, and benchmarking to deliver results.
From 2002 through 2005, Kay served on the Panel of Judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program after serving as an Examiner and Senior Examiner for the Program for six years. She continues to serve as an Alumni for the program. She has been a facilitator of the national training for examiners since 1998.
She served as a Judge for the California Award for Performance Excellence in 2001 and 2002 and completed another 3-year term in 2008. She served seven years as a Judge for the (former) Robert W. Carey Program, the Baldrige-based program for the Veterans Affairs. She was a Master Examiner and Team Leader for the AHCA/NCL Quality Award from 2011 – 2015. In 2012, she completed her sixth year as President and Chair of Partners in Performance Excellence, the Baldrige-based program serving Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and transitioned to the Board of Overseers. She has served as a Judge for the Program since 2013. In 2012, she completed her seventh year as a National Director on the Board of The Alliance, the consortium of Baldrige-based State and Local Programs.
Kay is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and an ASQ Certified Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence. She completed her third two-year term as a National Director for the ASQ Board in 2011, where she also chaired the Public Policy Advisory Council and the Research Committee.
Kay holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University with a major in microbiology and an MBA from the University of Arizona Eller School of Business.
Glenn Bodinson, FACHE
Glenn Bodinson founded BaldrigeCoach in 1989 to help organizations become more productive, profitable, and fun places to work in by harnessing the power of performance excellence. His firm consistently produces profound results for clients across America by applying the Baldrige Criteria and lean tools, systems, and principles of the Shingo Prize. A service organization reduced customer returns over 90% and saved over 15 million dollars, a manufacturer avoided making a 7 million dollar capital expenditure by adopting a lean strategy, and a distributor improved customer satisfaction by 50%.
Glenn is a frequent speaker and workshop presenter at state, national and international conferences.
Glenn retired from AT&T in 1989, after working in a broad range of manufacturing and service management positions. That organization received three Baldrige Awards, the Shingo Prize, and the Deming Prize.
Glenn served as the Vice President of the Hogan Center for Performance Excellence where he developed and delivered the curricula for its two-year transformation program. Graduates of this program include Baldrige recipients Branch Smith Printing and Park Place Lexus. Other Hogan Center Baldrige recipients include Karlee, Texas Nameplate, and Marlow Industries.
Glenn’s experience includes service as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner in 1992, 1993, 2012, 2013, and 2014, and Senior Examiner and Team Leader in 2015. He continues to serve as an Alumni for the program. He served as a Texas Quality Award Judge from 1994 to 1999, a Shingo Prize Examiner from 2000 to present, and national-level judge for the ASQ International Team Excellence Award Process. He served six years as a Judge for the Robert W. Carey Award Program and five years as a Master Examiner and Team Leader for the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award. He also served as a National Director on the Board of The Alliance, the consortium of Baldrige-based State and Local Programs.
Glenn is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, (FACHE), and a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), and Certified Manager of Quality/ Organizational Excellence (CQM/OE). He serves on the Board of Directors of a large healthcare system in Texas.
Glenn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management with Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
He also served as a National Director on the Board of The Alliance.
